How to Get Involved
As well as being a good way to get to know others (especially for research students!), the Forum is great for people who want to practise giving papers or to get feedback on what they've been doing, and you can cite your paper on your academic CV.The Forum is open to everyone: you don't have to be in the IAA, and you don't have to be a postgraduate.
As a thank you, we give out goody bags containing IAA Forum pens, post-it notes and notepads to all speakers and chairs!

Presenting
Papers can be any length from 10-45 minutes (for reference a 20 minute paper is about 3000 words long) - part of your thesis you'd like feedback on, an article you're thinking of submitting to Rosetta or another journal/conference, even just an interesting point you've done a bit of research on and want to share. You don't have to be part of the IAA to present, but we do ask that your topic is relevant to some aspect of the many fields covered by the IAA. So far we have had papers on Archaeology, Ancient History, the Ottoman Empire, Classical literature, Greek Art, Linguistics, Paleography, the Ancient Near East, Heritage Management, Modern Greece - as well as papers from related disciplines in Modern History, Theology and English.
Please email your abstract (no more than 200 words) along with the following details:
- Your name, department, course, and research area
- Your paper title and estimated length
- Whether you require any AV facilities
- Any dates which would be suitable for you (see the current programme)
We operate a rolling cut-off point, so there's never any deadlines to miss!
